We are pleased to announce the call for applications for the first Summer Institute in Computational Social Science in Nigeria that will take place [physically] on June 19-29, 2022, at Covenant University (Nigeria). Participation at SICSS-Covenant is open to postgraduate students, early-career academics and researchers from all African countries, fields of study (e.g. Computer Science, Social Science, Public Health, Statistics etc.).
The instructional program for the Institute will feature lectures, tutorials, group and participant-led research projects focusing on diverse aspects of data science, including but not limited to data analysis in R, web-scrapping, machine learning, social media data analytics, non-probability digital sampling and others. We hope that the summer institute will foster opportunities for collaborative research projects that apply computational methods to digital data or traditional data sources to better measure progress towards sustainable development goals.
About 20 participants will be invited, and there is also a limited number of financial assistance to cover international participants’ travel expenses. Meals and accommodation at Covenant University will also be covered for all accepted participants.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could kindly share details of the Institute with anyone (postgraduate students, postdocs, mentees and junior colleagues etc.) in your network who might be interested.
