
John Snow Scholarship For Medical Student
The John Snow Scholarship is a prestigious award for medical students interested in public health medicine, offered by the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM). Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled in a medical school at an Australian or Aotearoa New Zealand university
- No citizenship or residency restrictions; all medical students are eligible
Application Requirements:
- A piece of work previously submitted for formative or summative assessment
- A reflection piece (800-1000 words) demonstrating understanding of selected learning objectives
- A text-based presentation plan (500 words maximum)
- A letter of support from the University, signed by the Dean of the Medical School
- Completed application form
Prize:
- Winner: $500 cash prize, certificate, and reimbursement of up to $1000 to attend a conference
- Non-winning finalists: $250 cash prize and certificate
Selection Process:
- Applications are de-identified and assessed based on selection criteria and marking guide
- Regional finalists are selected from each Australian state, territory, and Aotearoa New Zealand
- Finalists present virtually at the finals event, where the overall winner is selected
Important Dates:
- Applications open: July 1, 2025
- Application deadline: October 12, 2025
- Finals presentation: March 24, 2026
