MUST READ!Tips to Help you Excel in your Scholarship Interview
1. Research the Scholarship:
Before your interview, take time to understand the values, goals, and mission behind the scholarship. Knowing what the awarding body stands for helps you align your answers and shows genuine interest. This will help impress the panel as it shows you have done your homework.
2. Duly Prepare all the required documents:
Your first guide is your invite email. Read it thoroughly and follow any specific instructions given. For an online interview, you might be asked to prepare a short presentation. If it is in person, take along hard copies of your key documents. Do ot forget your WAEC result, transcripts, ID, or anything else requested.
3. Practice Common Interview Questions:
A mock interview is not a bad idea. Practice typical questions with a friend, family, or your mentor.
However, do not over-rehearse or memorize your answers word-for-word. Be natural with words, as the panel can always tell if your answers are memorised.
4. Be Courteous and Honest:
Start with a warm greeting, maintain eye contact, and smile. Most importantly, be yourself. Do not pretend to be perfect—instead, share your story, your struggles, and your goals. Panels respect candidates who are authentic and mature.
