APPLY NOW! NigComSat Launches 2025 Accelerator Programme to Support Space-Tech Innovation
The NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme 2.0 will officially launch its second cohort on June 18, 2025, marking a major step in Nigeria’s satellite technology development. According to organisers, this edition “builds on the success of our inaugural cohort” and aims to support Nigerian startups leveraging space-based innovation to solve real-world problems.
The programme focuses on sectors like telecommunications, agritech, and environmental monitoring. “We’re excited to unveil bold ideas, brilliant founders, and disruptive solutions,” they added. The initiative is expected to attract tech entrepreneurs and investors interested in Nigeria’s space-tech ecosystem and its growing economic potential.
The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat) Ltd has announced the launch of the second phase of its Accelerator Programme, which is scheduled for 18 June 2025 in Abuja. The Accelerator is designed to support startups applying satellite and space-based technologies to address critical challenges across both domestic and global sectors. Commenting on the forthcoming launch, Programme Coordinator Mrs Maureen Nzekwe noted that the previous cohort received 281 applications, with 35 startups progressing to the final stage, scheduled for October 2025. She also highlighted the growing presence of female-led startups, underscoring NigComSat’s continued commitment to gender inclusion and women’s empowerment in science, technology, and innovation.
Operating under the theme “Innovation in Orbit: Empowering the Next Generation of Space-Tech Entrepreneurs,” the 2025 cohort will focus on advancing innovation in key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, climate resilience, education, robotics, logistics, and digital infrastructure. The programme is also designed to encourage collaboration among entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and innovators, contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.
In her remarks, Mrs Jane Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and CEO of NigComSat Ltd, underscored the initiative’s strategic significance. She stated that empowering Nigeria’s brightest innovators with access to space technology marks a decisive step toward sustainable national development.

Additionally, the programme is set to commence with onboarding activities on 20 June 2025, followed by a structured series of capacity-building workshops, mentorship sessions, product development support, and business strategy guidance. These activities will culminate in tailored investor matchmaking opportunities. One of the key milestones of the programme will be the Demo Day in October, where selected startups will present their innovations to an audience of investors, policymakers, and international stakeholders, offering valuable exposure and the potential for partnerships and funding.
The NigComSat Accelerator is delivered in collaboration with key strategic partners, including the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), as well as private sector experts, investors, and innovation ecosystem leaders.
2024 Edition
In 2024, the NigComSat Accelerator Programme hosted 20 startups, with 14 reaching the final stage to present their ideas. Three startups were recognised for their outstanding contributions. BetaLife took first place, followed by InnoviaLab in second, and Agroxchange in third. Their recognition reflects the programme’s steady effort to support homegrown innovation and encourage practical solutions across key sectors.
