
Biodiversity Grants Program
The Grants in Biodiversity (GIB) Program is offering funding for research in biodiversity, conservation biology, ecology, and related social science approaches in Alberta, Canada. Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility:
- Master’s and PhD students from accredited universities worldwide
- Research conducted in Alberta, Canada
- Early-stage graduate students (master’s within 2 years, PhD within 3 years) are preferred
Funding:
- Average award: CAD 11,000
- Funding duration: 2 years (April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2028)
- Eligible expenses: direct research costs, travel within Alberta, research supplies, assistants, and stipends
Application Requirements:
- Completed application form (Part A and Part B)
- Adherence to formatting guidelines
- Submission via email in acceptable file size limits
- Supervisor guidance permitted, but not authoring the application
Deadline:Â December 1, 2025
Timeline:
- Results announced: early April 2026
- Funded projects: April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2028
Additional Requirements:
- Publicly available project results and raw data within 48 months of funding end date
- Alignment with Alberta’s conservation priorities and ACA mission and values
