The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) 2026/27 is a fully funded scholarship program offered by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong. Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Demonstrate outstanding academic performance, research ability, communication, and leadership skills
- Be a new full-time PhD student at one of the eight participating universities in Hong Kong
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
- Meet the university requirements for the PhD program
Scholarship Benefits:
- Annual stipend of HK$340,800 (approximately US$43,690)
- Conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,200 (approximately US$1,820) per year
- Funding for up to three years, with possible additional support for longer programs

Application Process:
- Initial Application: Submit an online application through the HKPFS Electronic System (HKPFSES) to obtain an HKPFS Reference Number by December 1, 2025.
- University Application: Submit a full PhD application to your chosen university(ies), including the HKPFS Reference Number, before the university’s deadline.
