
2026 Iowa State University Borel Global Fellows Program in USA | Fully Funded Scholarship
The Iowa State University Scholarship, also known as the Borel Global Fellowship, is a fully funded graduate program for international students from Sub-Saharan Africa. Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be admitted into a graduate program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University
- Be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country
- Commit to completing graduate studies to contribute to food security in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Complete the majority of graduate research in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Demonstrate intention to work and live in Sub-Saharan Africa after completing studies
Benefits:
- Up to $25,000 per year for graduate student stipends
- Funding duration: up to 30 months for MS students and up to 42 months for PhD students
- Additional funding for travel to and from Africa for research purposes

- Cover letter from the major professor
- Student’s CV
- Student’s goal statement

Since applications are not accepted directly from graduate students, find an Iowa State University professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences who is willing to support your application. The professor will submit the application on your behalf.
