The University of Arizona Graduate Assistantship is a fully funded opportunity for international students to pursue their Master’s or PhD studies in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Prior experience working with wild birds and/or parasites
- Strong conceptual foundation in ecology and evolution
- Ability to articulate clear research ideas
- Self-motivated with a desire for collaborative research
- Strong overlap with the McNew Lab’s interests
Scholarship Benefits:

- $22,000 annual stipend for living expenses
Available Projects:
- MS Project:Â Studying nestling welfare in response to Philornis parasitism in the Galapagos (starting January 2026)
– Requirements: Interest in international fieldwork, advanced/native Spanish or German
- PhD Project 1:Â Studying ecology and evolution of Galapagos birds in response to parasitism (starting August 2026)
– Requirements: Interest in international fieldwork, advanced/native Spanish, interest or experience in genomics
- PhD Project 2:Â Studying host-parasite interactions in Sonoran birds (starting August 2026)
– Requirements: Interest in fieldwork, experience working with birds or parasites
