Ministry of Education ASEAN Scholarships in Singapore, 2017

Applications are invited for MOE ASEAN Scholarships for 2017 academic year. The ASEAN Scholarships are open for applications in the following countries now: Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Three types of awards are offered under the ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei and Malaysia: Secondary One Scholarships (for 6 years), Secondary Three Scholarships (for 4 years) and Pre-University One Scholarships (for 2 years). The ASEAN Scholarships for Vietnam is tenable for 4 years. These scholarships are leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced’ (GCE A-Level) (or equivalent) certificate.

The ASEAN Scholarships aim to provide opportunities to the young people of ASEAN to develop their potential and equip them with important skills for the 21st century.
The Ministry of Education is a ministry of the Government of Singapore that directs the formulation and implementation of policies related to education in Singapore.
Study Subject (s): Scholarships are awarded to learn any of the courses available at Singapore schools or Junior Colleges.

Course Level: Secondary One Scholarships is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary One to Pre-University Two. Secondary Three Scholarships is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and Pre-University One Scholarships is for 2 years of Pre-University studies in selected Singapore Junior Colleges. Scholarships for Vietnam are for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two.

Scholarship Award: Three types of awards are offered under the ASEAN Scholarships for Brunei and Malaysia: Secondary One Scholarships, Secondary Three Scholarships and Pre-University One Scholarships. Each scholarship will include:
-Annual allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) with hostel accommodation,
-Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only) Return economy class air passage,
-Coverage of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees),
-Coverage of GCE O-Level and A-Level examination fees (once only, if applicable)
-Subsidized medical benefits and accident insurance cover.

Eligibility: Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:
Scholarships for Brunei:
-Nationals of Negara Brunei Darussalam,
-Born between 2003 – 2004 ( for Secondary One Scholarships), Born between 2000-2002 ( for Secondary Three Scholarships) and Born between 1998-2000 (for Pre-University One Scholarships)
-Currently in Primary 6 or Form 1
-Have done consistently well in their school examinations
-Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.
Scholarships for Thailand:
-Nationals of Thailand
-Born between 2000 to 2002 ( for Secondary Three Scholarships) and Born between 1998 to 1999 (for Pre-University One Scholarships)
-Mathayom 1 and 2 or Mathayom 2 and 3 final year results (for Secondary Three Scholarships) and Mathayom 3 and 4 or Mathayom 4 and 5 final year results  (for Pre-University One Scholarships) with a Grade Point Average of 3 and above
-Have done consistently well in their school examinations
-Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in co-curricular activities

Scholarships for Malaysia:
-Nationals of Malaysia
-Born between 2002–2004 (for Secondary One Scholarships), Born between 2000-2002 ( for Secondary Three Scholarships) and Born in 1998-2000 (for Pre-University One Scholarships).
-Currently in Standard 6 or Form 1( for Secondary One Scholarships), Currently in Form 2 or Form 3 ( for Secondary Three Scholarships) and Currently in Form 5 (or equivalent) or have taken the 2015 SPM / GCE O-Level Examination (for Pre-University One Scholarships).
-Have done consistently well in their school examinations
-Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in co-curricular activities
Scholarships for Vietnamese
-Nationals of Vietnam
-Born between 2000 to 2002
-Completed certificate of Lower Secondary Education
-Have done consistently well in their school examinations
-Proficiency in English and a good record of participation in co-curricular activities

Nationality: Students of Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei Darussalam can apply for these MOE ASEAN scholarships.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is online. Students from Vietnam are nominated by the Vietnam Ministry of Education & Training for the scholarships.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 31 March, 2016.
